WASHINGTON DC: U.S. Capitol

The United States Capitol in Washington D.C. is a symbol of the American people and their government, the meeting place of the nation's legislature.

Construction of the U.S. Capitol began in 1793. In November 1800, the U.S. Congress met in the first completed portion, the north wing. In the 1850s, major extensions to the North and South ends of the Capitol were authorized because of the great westward expansion of the nation and the resultant growth of Congress. Since that time, the U.S. Capitol and its stately dome have become international symbols of American representative democracy.

Too big to stay in a picture!LOL

The rotunda is amazing!

Arrived in U.S.A. on Wednesday, December the 5th, we planned a tour inside the Capitol Hill on friday morning.
It was the perfect way to start our visit of the city: all the history about the American States and on Washington Dc was explained  in a really interesting and easy way throught short movies, images and a wonderful guide who helps us along the hours we spent there.
And it was all for free!^^
